Dja Dja Wurrung enterprise DJANDAK is starting works this week to deliver a new Dja Dja Wurrung-inspired shelter, replacing the pergola in Rosalind Park, which has reached the end of its life.
The new shelter will function as a space for performances and events and as a gathering space for the whole community to enjoy. It will be located at the site of the current pergola in Rosalind Park, just west of the Bendigo Senior Secondary College entrance.
The works will also include landscaping with native and culturally important plants around the shelter.
Dja Dja Wurrung Group Interim CEO Cassandra Lewis said DJANDAK was proud to deliver the new, landscaped shelter to the people of Bendigo.
“Rosalind Park is where Dja Dja Wurrung People signed our Recognition and Settlement Agreement with the Victorian Government. It’s a place of shared history, and we’re proud to deliver a Dja Dja Wurrung-inspired space for the whole community to gather and connect,” Ms Lewis said.
