How can you make an impact?

The Chief Financial Officer is a key executive role responsible for strengthening the financial foundations of DJAARA. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will support strategic decision-making and help ensure the organisation is well positioned for sustainable growth and future opportunities.

This role suits an experienced CFO who is motivated by purpose and wants to see their leadership translate into meaningful outcomes for Country and Community.

What You Will Be Doing

 As Chief Financial Officer, you will provide strategic financial leadership that supports DJAARA’s purpose, sustainability and growth. Working closely with the CEO, Executive team and Boards, you will ensure strong governance while embedding cultural values into financial decision-making.

You will:

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and risk management across the DDWCAC
  • Oversee finance, procurement and asset management to deliver efficient, high-quality services
  • Ensure compliance, strong governance and effective financial controls
  • Support investment, enterprise and growth opportunities aligned with cultural priorities
  • Contribute as a key member of the Executive Management Team, shaping organisational direction

 Importantly, you will ensure financial leadership at DJAARA reflects and upholds cultural values, supports self-determination, and positions the organisation to respond confidently to opportunities.

What will you bring?

You are a strategic and ethical financial leader who brings both technical excellence and strong relational skills. You are motivated by purpose and understand the importance of finance in enabling self-determination and community-led outcomes.

  • Proven executive-level financial leadership experience in complex or multi-entity organisations.
  • Strong capability across finance, procurement and asset management.
  • Proven strategic thinking, analytical and governance skills.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal organisations or Traditional Owner groups.
  • Understanding of government funding, philanthropy and enterprise development
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Current CPA (or equivalent) accreditation.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (MBA, Masters) highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with Treaty, Yoorrook and related reform processes.
