Our commercial enterprises play an important role in that future. Across environmental services, construction and delivery, education, art and tourism, food, fibre and forestry, there are opportunities to build on our foundations, explore new possibilities and grow our commercial impact.

We are looking for a General Manager – Commercial & Growth to help shape our next chapter. This is an opportunity to lead a diverse business portfolio, strengthen commercial performance and identify new markets, partnerships, investments and opportunities for sustainable growth.

About you

You are an ambitious, commercially astute leader who can look beyond the immediate horizon, recognise emerging opportunities and turn strategic thinking into meaningful outcomes.

You bring the confidence and judgement to lead a diverse business portfolio, explore new markets and partnerships, and turn opportunities into sustainable business growth. You understand how to balance commercial ambition with sound financial management, risk and long-term value.

Comfortable operating at executive and Board level, you can move confidently between the bigger picture and the detail. You challenge conventional thinking constructively, build strong relationships and turn promising ideas into commercially sound opportunities.

You understand that commercial success is measured not only by financial returns, but also by the strength of relationships that create new revenue opportunities. You recognise the importance of cultural authority and self-determination, and the role commercial enterprise can play in creating lasting opportunities for Djaara people.

What you’ll bring:

  • Significant senior commercial leadership experience, including responsibility for business performance, commercial strategy or multiple business operations.
  • A track record of identifying and progressing growth opportunities, developing partnerships and delivering sustainable commercial outcomes.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including business planning, financial modelling, investment assessment and risk management.
  • Experience leading senior managers or multidisciplinary teams, building capability and establishing clear accountability for performance.
  • Confidence working with executive leaders, Boards, government and commercial stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, management, finance, economics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience in Aboriginal organisations, Indigenous enterprise, regional economic development, joint ventures or industries such as infrastructure, construction, environmental services, property and tourism would be highly regarded.
